Accessibility support and maintenance is an ongoing service to ensure that a site, intranet, or web application remains accessible over time and complies with WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements. Unlike a one-off audit, support and maintenance focuses on day-to-day changes, reviewing new pages or sections, design updates, new functionalities, new content publication, plugin or library updates, and resolving accessibility issues reported by users.

An accessibility audit is an evaluation at a specific moment. It identifies accessibility barriers and proposes fixes. Accessibility maintenance goes further. It takes care of what happens after, preventing a site from becoming inaccessible again after changes and new content. The recommended approach is continuous maintenance and support between audits.

Typically, the service includes periodic accessibility reviews (manual and with tools), task definition for fixing issues, advisory support for internal teams (design, development, and content), validation of evolutions, and integration of accessibility improvement tools.

The most common issues we solve include missing alternative text (alt) for images, insufficient text contrast, incorrect heading hierarchy and semantic HTML inconsistencies, keyboard navigation, screen reader accessibility, form behavior, ambiguous or imprecise language, or use of aria-labels, among others.

Although legal obligations require compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, we recommend following WCAG 2.2 AA criteria. If your organization wants future proof compliance, the ideal approach is to improve with 2.2 criteria.
